enjoy my weekends music in photos (ie. i had too much fun at each show to possibly consider writing a review). however, you must definitely get your hands on a copy of MATT GIGG & The Intellectuals brand new CD which was just released on Saturday night. ’Planted’ is a swirly heartfelt doodle on a paper napkin, drawn by hopeless romantics as they daydream about life. If you like that kinda stuff you should definitely check out this record.

oh also, i had originally planned to go see library voices at the #1 legion in downtown calgary, but once i arrived at the door i learned the cover was a hefty $20! so, after closing time at the palomino i booted across the street to the legion to track down any library voices members in the promise of purchasing some beloved saskatchewanite merchandise. luckily, carl johnson, lead singer of library voices happened to be lingering the merch table as we entered the legion. he took us on a wild maze of a walk through the legion before finally bringing us to the tour vehicle. i got a fantastic green library voices tshirt, as you can see below, and a copy of their EP which has the best hand-drawn illustrations on it. thanks so much carl. he mentioned that LV would be back later this fall/winter before releasing their vinyl (!!!) in the early spring — february-ish!!!
